SUMMARY:African American History Month Celebration
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of African American History Month Pennsbury Manor is proud to Partner with Shirley Lee Corsey to present Harriet Tubman – Live! “Harriet” will speak to her audience about her early life on the Maryland plantation where she was born and enslaved\, her escape from slavery up to Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania and beyond to freedom! \nThis inspirational interpretation of Harriet Tubman’s amazing and long life includes her return trips to that same Maryland plantation\, as she led many others to freedom and about the people who helped her as well. Learn about several other history makers she came to know along the way. Learn about how and why she had to continue her harrowing journey further north up to New York State and into Canada. Explore her amazing life during and after the American Civil War era and her work with women’s suffrage movement. \nPennsbury Manor will also again proudly be displaying art quilts from the ‘Dreams of Freedom – The Threads That Hold Us Together\,’ exhibit organized by the Sankofa Artisans Guild.  These stunning works of art celebrate the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman. \nThis program will run from 2pm to 4pm. “Harriet Tubman –Live” will begin at 2pm and will run until 3pm\, with a Q&A to follow the performance. ‘Dreams of Freedom’ will be open to public from 2pm to 4pm in the Crozier House.
